AAPHP Webinar: Innovations in Capstone Courses

Webinar Information:

Live Session: September 23, 2022 at 10am PST/ 1pm EST. Recording to follow. 

This webinar will focus on the various ways MPH programs offer challenging and rewarding capstone courses. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) requirements and discuss how these experiences contribute to enrollment, completion, and career opportunities.


AAPHP webinars are a free online webinar series designed to support and represent member programs through the accreditation process and in preparing a competent public health workforce. Each webinar takes approximately 1-hour to complete.

To join the live session, please enroll in the course before 10am PST on the day of the webinar. All sessions are recorded. If you enroll after the live webinar session has ended, the course will contain a video recording of the live session you can watch instead. Please note, it may take up to one month for the recording to become available.

About the Speakers

Emily Albers, MPH, CPH, Council on Education for Public Health 


Emily joined CEPH in 2020 and currently serves as an accreditation specialist. In her role, Emily coordinates and staffs accreditation reviews for schools and programs of public health across the US and Canada. She also provides technical assistance to accredited and applicant schools and programs.

Emily received her Master of Public Health degree in health services administration from The State University of New York at Buffalo. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences from Sacred Heart University. Prior to joining the CEPH team, Emily worked as an undergraduate admissions counselor at her alma mater and a senior research support specialist at the SUNY Research Foundation.

Stephanie Miles Richardson, PhD, Director of the Master of Public Health Program, Morehouse School of Medicine 

Dr. Stephanie Miles-Richardson, Associate Dean for Graduate Education in Public Health and Professor in the Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine, serves as the Director of the Master of Public Health Program at Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Miles-Richardson joined the faculty at the Morehouse School of Medicine in November 2008, after more than a decade of federal service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). During her federal career, Dr. Miles-Richardson worked as an environmental toxicologist, scientific technical advisor for a $4 million applied research program, minority health program manager, and finally, as CDC’s Associate Director for Minority Health and Health Disparities Policy. Additionally, she was an officer in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Dr. Miles-Richardson holds an adjunct faculty appointment at Tuskegee University in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health and visiting scientist appointment in the Tuskegee University National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care. 

Thomas Delaney, PhD, MA, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, University of Vermont, Larner College of Medicine 

Dr. Tom Delaney is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine. He earned MA and PhD degrees in Psychology from the University of Denver. He has been teaching in the UVM Masters in Public Health program since 2012 and is the Course Director for the course PH392: Culminating Project Experience, in which he supports small teams of MPH students conducting their capstone research projects.
