Northern Nevada Literacy Council: Helping Adult Learners Achieve Their Educational Goals

The discussion topic includes resources and services to low-income communities in Reno, NV. The equity projects that NNLC are currently working on are geared towards low-income and low-literacy adult learners in order to assist them in their educational goals. We will explain how our programs have increased educational knowledge which has lead to higher literacy and increased workforce development.


The Health Equity Webinar Series is a free online webinar series designed to showcase dynamic work being accomplished to enhance health equity opportunities. This series discusses different innovative implementations, strategies, best practices, success stories, and experiences impacting health equity in communities served with public health professionals around the nation. 

Health Equity Webinars are hosted live on the third Friday of each month at 10 am PST.   

To join the live session, please enroll in the course before 10am PST on the day of the webinar. All Health Equity sessions are recorded. If you enroll after the live webinar session has ended, the course will contain a video recording of the live session you can watch instead. Please note, it may take up to one month for the recording to become available.


Learning Objectives:

Upon completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify classes offered to improve adult learner education
  2. Examine the impact of English literacy
  3. Identify how adult learners support their children's reading development through the parent/child Family Reading Program

Adrienne Santiago, Executive Director, Northern Nevada Literacy Council  

Adrienne Santiago, Executive Director, Northern Nevada Literacy Council,  has a demonstrated history of working throughout Higher Education. She is skilled in Accreditation, Strategic Planning, and Team Building. She is a strong education professional with a Master's Degree focused in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration and a Bachelor's in Instructional Design.
