The 2020 SGM Virtual Health Conference is available asynchronously.
The SGM Health Conference is a gathering of topics related to instructing and training clinicians, administrators and others about the issues facing the LGBTQIA populations and access to healthcare services. These training sessions are provided by experts to assist those in the healthcare field understand the barriers to care, the unique challenges facing the bodies of this population, as well as, the nuanced position these individual hold in a system that holds their access to healthcare as something that can be denied through exemptions provided by law.
Each session delves into the critical issues facing the healthcare team with regard to treating these patients.
Follow up Q and A sessions will begin in November 2020 to address specific questions of participants. - Develop a foundational understanding of SGM health and identify the inequities in healthcare for SGM populations
- Identify how policy and healthcare for both physical health and behavioral health impacts the overall well-being of SGM populations
- Learn strategies for improving SGM health through healthcare, policy, and advocacy.
- Be able to implement strategies from the presentations in the workplace as a healthcare provider, student, or community member to improve SGM health
